County Councillor Marcus Hart says, “I have been contacted by a number of residents regarding problems with the surface dressing caused by the high temperatures we have had over the last couple of weeks. Before I said anything publicly I requested an urgent site visit with our highways engineer, as I wanted to show him the issues. This has now taken place. I have also written to the Cabinet Member for Highways Cllr. Alan Amos and a senior highways officer and asked for urgent action to remedy this situation. I am very pleased that Cllr. Amos and officers have responded promptly and assured me remedial work will be taken. A further inspection took place last Friday by a senior highways officer, at my instigation.”
Marcus is pleased to confirm that as a result of his actions, Worcestershire County Council have today written to Marcus and will be sending a highways team in over the next few weeks to work on the highway which will mean a 2-3mm dusting to repair the surface. The temperature needs to be 20-25 degrees in order for this to be done and a firm date will be confirmed as soon as possible.
Marcus added, “I am very aware as to how unpleasant it is for residents who have to tread in tarmac into their houses and I thank them for their patience. As county councillor for the estate I am best placed to fight for residents on highways issues and am pleased that Worcestershire County Council agree that action is needed to tackle the problem.”
