During the December 2020 meeting of Kidderminster Town Council (KTC) Cllr Kevin Gale proposed that plans start urgently for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The Conservative Group on KTC was (and still is) delighted to support this and welcomes the chance for us all to have something to look forward to.
By 6 February 2022, The Queen will have reigned for 70 years and Buckingham Palace is already working on a series of events to take place between 2–5 June 2022. It is planned that in order to create a four-day weekend of celebrations in June 2022, the late May Spring Bank Holiday that year will be moved to Thursday 2 June and an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3 June will be created.
Cllr Kevin Gale said, ‘As we live through such difficult times, we all need something positive and celebratory to look forward to. The Queen has reigned for the longest of any British Monarch and her dedication, service and devotion is impossible to quantify. It is essential that the residents of Kidderminster, indeed residents all over the UK, come together to celebrate this monumental achievement and the Conservative Group will certainly be urging Kidderminster Town Council to start planning now.”
Cllr David Ross, Leader of the Conservative Group on KTC said, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to share and enjoy a jubilee weekend to remember. While we all have so much to think about at the moment, if you would like to offer ideas for the celebrations in Kidderminster then please do contact Cllr Kevin Gale on [email protected] or any member of Kidderminster Town Council.”
