The Conservative Adminstration at Wyre Forest District Council are delighted to support our local cultural and community events.
Since the Conservative group was elected to run Wyre Forest District Council in May; the district council has been proactive in ensuring support for Stourport Carnival. The Leader of the Council, Cllr Marcus Hart and Cllr Ben Brookes, Cabinet Member for Operational Services met with the secretary and treasurer of the carnival committee to discuss the level of assistance which the district council will provide to carnival this year.
Cllr Brookes said “I was delighted to meet with the hardworking and dedicated members of the carnival committee. The district council has been able to offer a wide range of support for the carnival this year, including; free refuse bins, the use of the Civic Centre carpark for free and reducing the hire fee for the field by two thirds. We have also provided a community events grant to Stourport Town Council, a proportion of which will be granted to the carnival committee”.
Community events, large and small, are at the heart of our district and the Conservative lead district council are committed to ensuring that support for them is continued. Wyre Forest District Council have recently given Stourport Town Council £6,000 from they new Culture/Events Grant which the Carnival will also be able to apply for via the Town Council for even more financial support.
