Councillor Marcus Hart says, “I am absolutely delighted to have visited Heronswood Primary School, Spennells, Chaddesley Corbett Primary School and Blakedown Primary School this week. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Head Teachers of the three schools for taking the time to show me around their schools and  how they are operating in their bubbles with their 2 metre safe distancing.”

Marcus who is the Cabinet Member for Education, who has responsibility for all 243 schools across Worcestershire is embarking on a number of school visits across the county and said, “I wanted to start local but plan to visit a number of schools across the county before the end of the summer term.”

Marcus added, “I am very keen to visit schools to see how our staff and students have adapted to the coronavirus pandemic in action. I am really grateful to all the staff and governors in our schools, for the tireless work and preparation that has gone in to help make the return to school as smooth as possible and I am really pleased to be able to have the opportunity to see the progress first hand and take the time to thank staff and students personally for their efforts. As a parent of a young child I know how difficult the last 3 months have been and know how tricky it is balancing child care, with different school times without wrap around and the need to go to work and I can understand how hard it is for parents of Primary age children not in yrR, 1 or 6 who have not been offered a school place.”   

Finally, Marcus says, “We must remember that as of 1st June this was the wider opening of schools and that since 23rd March schools have remained open for vulnerable children and children of key workers.”
