Cllr Tracey Onslow and the Blakebrook & Habberley South team are delighted to see that works have begun today on a path that will connect the car park on Habberley Road with the 8th Wyre Forest Scout Hut that is on the far side of Habberley Playing Fields. Once complete, children and parents will no longer be forced to walk through mud when accessing the Scout Hut during winter,
The path is primarily funded by money that has been raised by the Scout Group, supported by a £1,000 grant from Cllr Onslow's Community Leadership Fund. With Cllr Onslow's assistance, local party volunteer and member of the Scout Group's Executive Committee, Julian Phillips, has been negotiating with Wyre Forest District Council to acquire permission for the path to cross council land.
Mr Phillips, a local team member (pictured) said: "The path will benefit over one hundred local children and their parents or guardians. The 8th Wyre Forest Scout Group are extremely grateful to Tracey for allocating some of her community funding to our project, as well as for helping obtain practical assistance from the District Council".
