Clean Sweep for the Conservatives in Wyre Forest

Elections for Worcestershire County Council saw the Conservatives cement their representation at County Hall, increasing their seats from 8 to winning all 10 seats for the first time since these seats were created in 2005.

Cllrs Nathan Desmond, Ian Hardiman, Marcus Hart, Paul Harrison, Tracey Onslow and Chris Rogers were all re-elected whilst Cllr David Ross held the St Barnabas seat following the retirement of long serving councillor, Anne Hingley, Cllr Dan Morehead retained the Bewdley seat vacated by Becky Vale and Cllr Tony Muir defeated Independent, Cllr Mary Rayner to take St Georges and St Oswalds and Cllr Bill Hopkins defeated the long serving Liberal Democrat, Cllr Fran Oborski to take St Chads.

Long serving Conservative County Councillor, Cllr. Marcus Hart says, “On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I am delighted with these results. We achieved a resounding 49% share of the vote overall and this is a clear mandate to govern. We fought an honest campaign based on clear policies and we will strive to deliver on those over the next 4 years. We would like to thank the public from across the Wyre Forest for placing their trust in us.”

It was also a good day for the Conservatives on Kidderminster Town Council, cementing their lead to win 11 out of the 18 seats. Conservative Group Leader on Kidderminster Town Council, Cllr. David Ross said, “It was an excellent day, increasing our seats from 8 to 11 and taking the Council from no overall control to the Conservatives having the majority. I can assure all residents we will be working hard for all of you and ensuring our decisions are made to improve Kidderminster.”
