Your local team are pleased to report that they have now delivered letters to local residents regarding the proposed car park at Station Yard. They have set out their concerns in the letter regarding this and details of how to look at the planning application and send a response in. Thank you to Robin Drew for delivering the letters.
Rest assured as your county councillor Marcus will be fighting hard on your behalf and articulating your concerns in respect of the details of the planning application.
On another very important matter, WFDC held a special meeting of Full Council on Tuesday evening in order to debate the Local Plan. The Local Plan included allocating Station Yard as a car park and the field off station Drive for 50 houses and a reserve station car park site as the need arises.
Marcus, Ian and Lisa as your 3 elected Wyre Forest District Councillors all spoke out, opposed and voted against the Local Plan. Along with many local residents, your 3 District Councillor are sad that the field has been taken out of the Green Belt now, for 50 houses (which were never in the Conservatives' proposals pre- May 2019) and reserved for a car park in the future even though Marcus was able to successfully argue for WCC to look at the modelling again and they confirmed they did not require the car park. Despite this the Progressive Alliance proceeded with the proposal.
The irony is that the plan to remove far more land out of the green belt than we believe was necessary was voted through by the Independent/Health Concern/ Green and Labour led Progressive Alliance.
The Plan was voted through 14 votes to 13, with 4 abstentions and 2 members had declared interests and played no part in the debate.
We will continue working hard on your behalf.
NB. Ian sits on the planning committee at WCC and can make no comment on the planning application at Station Yard as the code of conduct states he must keep an open mind
